The Full Context
Over the past few weeks, there’s been increased focus across the industry on compliance, sustainability, and how spaces like ours operate, particularly with Ofcom now overseeing the Online Safety Act.
To be absolutely clear: HOM Studios has always operated in line with the relevant laws and regulations. That hasn’t changed, and it won’t. If anything, we’re probably overly thorough about it.
Trust us — we’re anal about compliance.
(Yes, pardon the pun.)
That said, regulation and expectations evolve. Running a space like this properly means adapting when needed — not because something’s wrong, but because long-term sustainability matters.
During a period of high demand, we moved to a £150 minimum, all-in structure. Operationally, it made sense at the time. It protected standards and gave the team breathing room.
However, after stepping back, listening carefully to feedback from regulars and newer clients alike, and looking honestly at the current climate, it became clear that accessibility matters more right now — particularly for those who rely on the studio as part of their livelihood.
Some people felt pushed out.
That was never the intention.
And for the confusion this caused, we’re genuinely sorry.
HOM Studios is used by many different people, with many different needs. Pleasing everyone perfectly is probably impossible — but listening, adapting sensibly, and acting in good faith will always be the goal.
What We’re Doing (and Sticking With)
We’ve returned to a flexible, pay-for-what-you-use structure, with one practical refinement.
- Main Studio remains the core hire
- Optional add-on rooms:
- Throne Room – £30
- Medical Room – £30
- Bedroom / Rig Room – £30
This means:
- 3 hours is back to £100
- No pressure to pay for rooms you don’t need
- Clear, predictable pricing again
Why the Bedroom & Rig Room Are Now Add-Ons
This is the one small difference compared to the original structure, and there’s a practical reason behind it.
The Bedroom and Rig Room require a different level of cleaning, inspection, and reset compared to the main studio. Making them optional allows us to:
- plan cleaning more accurately
- avoid unnecessary resets where rooms haven’t been used
- keep turnaround times realistic
- reduce burnout during busy periods
Even when those rooms aren’t actively used, they still need checking — toys moved, items touched, things “borrowed and quietly returned”. But those checks still take time.
Locking rooms that aren’t booked gives us certainty that everything inside remains clean, set correctly, and untouched — which saves time without cutting corners.
If you’re booking the entire studio and using all rooms, nothing changes from your side. We simply build in additional cleaning time after your session internally.
If you’d rather have everything bundled into one neat price, we’re always happy to do that.
The Human Bit
You keep this studio going. Genuinely.
The feedback you share matters — even when it’s uncomfortable. We can handle scrutiny, we can handle being told something doesn’t work, and we’ll always admit it when that’s the case.
We’d rather course-correct than dig our heels in for the sake of pride.
We also want to be clear: we’re not planning any more drastic pricing changes.
What you see now is the structure we’re sticking with.
Unless something genuinely outside our control forces a change (and we’re crossing absolutely everything that it doesn’t), this is about stability, not constant tweaks.
You should be able to plan, budget, and book without feeling like the ground is shifting underneath you.
If you have questions, concerns, or feedback, our inbox and WhatsApp are always open. We can’t promise to accommodate every request — but we do promise to listen.
